PeaceJam Luxembourg, coordinated by 4motion asbl, offers a unique opportunity to pilot the award-winning PeaceJam program and the educational curriculum Compassion in Action.
This curriculum aims to promote positive role models to youngsters by discovering the life stories of five Nobel Prize winners. It inspires young people and help them find their unique potential and passion. Pupils are motivated to create a culture of peace within their communities and take action in order to reduce mobbing, increase social inclusion, respect diversity, support refugees and more.
As part of the European PeaceJam project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union, European youngsters have the unique opportunity to participate in workshops and events, including an annual two-days PeaceJam Youth conference, where they can finally meet and be inspired by a Nobel Peace Prize Winner.
On January 2018, the Lycée Technique de Bonnevoie confirmed its willingness to implement the PeaceJam’s Compassion in Action program and signed a partnership contract with 4motion. Ms. Carole Theisen, Director of the Lycée Technique de Bonnevoie, and Mr. Laurence Hane, Project Coordinator at 4motion, met with members of the socio-educational team to formalize the partnership. Immediately, the two days training took place with a focus on the use of the Compassion in Action curriculum with young students. During this training, teachers and socio-educational workers (members of the SePas) could discover the different themes and exercises of the curriculum and learned how to use this tool to contribute to students’ education. The ultimate goal of the Compassion in Action curriculum is to encourage youngsters in becoming active and responsible citizens in order to engage and contribute to their local communities.
Teachers are finally ready to share with their students values such as respect, solidarity, equality, freedom of speech and transparency. The objective of teachers trainings as well as the PeaceJam Youth Conference is to find concrete opportunities for youngsters to take action in their communities in order to build inclusive and peaceful societies. Large and small youth projects are gathered and become part of the joint PeaceJam and Google global campaign, the One Billion Acts of Peace.
We look forward to discovering the projects of the students of the Lycée Technique de Bonnevoie and their impact on their community!
